Software Limitations

The Software Packages section of this blog analysed 2 different types of software which could be used for editing graphics. Those 2 software packages were Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Paint. In this section I will analyse at the limitations of using these software packages.
Adobe Photoshop

One of the main limitations of Adobe Photoshop is that it is much more expensive than other graphic editing software. It can cost hundreds of pounds depending on what version you buy. If the user does not plan on using this software on a regular basis, they may be better off purchasing a cheaper type of software. Another limitation of Adobe Photoshop is that it is rather difficult for a beginner to use. It is targeted more towards users who have experience using graphic editing software. It is quite advanced and a beginner may be better off using a different type of software when editing graphics.

Microsoft Paint

While Microsoft Paint does not have limitations associated with cost and complexity, it does have other limitations. Unlike Adobe Photoshop, you are not able to create multiple layers in Microsoft Paint. This is a problem for users who want to create an image from scratch as they need to be able to use multiple layers. Microsoft Paint does not have any retouching options that a user can apply to an image. More professional software, such as Adobe Photoshop, has tools for removing red-eye from photos and for correcting skin tones. Another limitation of Microsoft Paint is that it only works on Windows computers. This means that if a user who uses Microsoft Paint decides to switch to another computer, such as a Mac, they will have to use a different piece of software in order to edit graphics.
