Output Devices

Printer: A device which is connected to a computer and produces a paper copy of the data on the screen. There are several different types of printers: Ink-Jet, Laser, LED and Impact. Ink-jet printers arethe most popular type due to them being relatively cheap and the print outs are of a high quality.

Speakers: They are external to the computer and so they are inserted into either one of the USB ports or into the headphone dock. While some computers have built in speakers they are usually not very high quality so most users buy speakers in order to have a more amplified sound.

Monitor – dual: A computer system with more than one display screen connected. This increases the area available for computer programs running on the same computer system. While it increases the area available for computer programs it can also decrease the performance of the computer in terms of display and processing power.

Projector: Project whatever is on the screen of the computer onto an interactive whiteboard. Modern projectors usually hang from the ceiling and use light emitting diodes to project the image from the computer onto the whiteboard.

PDA: (Personal Digital Assistant) It is mainly used as a personal information manager but due to the improvements in smart phones PDA’s are becoming less popular. Most PDA’s are touch screen and can connect to the internet using a Wi-Fi connection.
